Cate and Al Belleveau 2013 Friends of the Arts

The Bemidji Community Art Center and First National Bank Bemidji Present the 25th Annual Friend of the Arts Celebration in honor of Cate and Al Belleveau.

For the 25th year the Bemidji Community Art Center is asking people in the community and surrounding area to nominate this year’s Friend of the Arts. The nominee for the Friend of the Arts award should be a living person (or couple) who has given generously of time and effort to promote the arts in the greater Bemidji area.

Nominations must be received at the Bemidji Community Art Center (BCAC) at 426 Bemidji Ave, Bemidji, MN 56601, no later than February 28th, 2013. The public will be informed of the selection committee’s choice after March 8th with the announcement of the celebration to follow.

Starting back in 1989 with our first honoree Helen Gill, the very first Friends of the Arts Award was presented, and since then has continued a long standing tradition of acknowledging those in our community who have been committed to the arts.  Helen’s picture along with those award winners who followed her can be seen on display in the Bemidji Public Library Meeting room.

On May 25th the BCAC celebrated with Bemidji Chorale Director Pat Mason their 2012 recipient of the Friend of the Arts Award.  The BCAC would like to thank all of those in attendance during the event and her many well wishers making it a special evening for all.   A special thanks to Wayne Hoff for providing music during the social hour.

Please join us on May 25th  for the BCAC’s 24th Annual Friend of the Arts Celebration honoring Bemidji Choral Conductor – Patricia Mason!

This years event will be hosted at the Sanford Center – Gate 2 – Club Level at 1111 Event Center Dr. NE.

Tickets are $45 each for members and $50 for non-members.  A portion of the proceeds goes to support programming at the BCAC and is tax deductable.  Tickets are on sale now through May 15th.  There is limited seating and no tickets will be sold at the door.  Advance sales only.  

The evening begins with a social hour at 5:30pm, followed by dinner at 6:30pm.  Award to be presented during dinner.

The BCAC is pleased to announce the Jim and Marilyn Heltzer are this year’s recipients of the 2011 Friend of the Arts Award.

Starting back in 1989 with our first honoree Helen Gill, the very first Friend of the Arts Award was presented.  Since then this annual event has continued a long standing tradition of acknowledging those in our community who have been an inspiration to the community and committed to the arts. We are honored to add Jim and Marilyn to this list of distinguished community members.   To read more about the event and past recipients go to our Friend of the Arts page.

The BCAC would like to thank WoodsEdge Senior Living Campus for hosting the 2011 Friend of the Arts Celebration and to First National Bank of Bemidji for their support of the BCAC and the Friends of the Arts Celebration. 

The BCAC would like to express our gratitude to writer Patt Rall, photographer Monte Draper and artist John Holden, for their assistance in recognizing our Friend of the Arts honorees.  We would also like to thank Natalie Roholt and Patrick Riley for their annual donation to the event.

The Bemidji Community Art Center would like to invite you to join us in welcoming Janet Brademan as the 22nd recipient of the Friend of the Arts Award.

This years Friend of the Arts Celebration to honor Janet will be held on Thursday June 10th, at First National Bank Garden Court, 1600 Paul Bunyan Dr NW.  Social hour and hors d’ oeuvres are from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm with the award presentation at 6:30pm.  Advance tickets are $12 for adults, $3 for 12 and under and can be purchased at the Bemidji Community Art Center and Headwaters School of Music and the Arts, or for $15 at the door on the day of the event.

The BCAC would like to Congratulate Marie Luoma on becoming the 19th recipient of the Annual “Friend of the Arts” Award for 2007.

Active in music and theater as a student, teacher and performer for most of her life, Marie is still busy volunteering her time and contributing her energy to the arts. Whether it’s singing with the “Third Street Swingers”, the Bemidji Senior Center choral group she formed, or playing the piano at nursing and assisted living centers in the Bemidji area, Marie continues to share her love for the arts and inspire many of us in the community, young and old.

Join us on May 23, from 5 to 7pm at the Headwaters School of Music and the Arts for a reception and award presentation to honor Marie. Social hour will be from 5 to 6 pm followed by the award ceremony at 6pm. Refreshments provided by the Wildhare Bistro and Coffee House.
