Bemidji Community Art Center opens it’s doors at five o’clock on the First Friday of each month, February through December, for an artist reception.
First Fridays Art Walk
Turn a Friday night out into a real event. Between two and eight pm. on the first Friday of every month Bemidji opens it’s doors to art lovers to enjoy a night of art, food, literary and musical entertainment.
Whether you begin or end at the Bemidji Community Art Center, wander from one art opening to the next, taking in new art work from local and regional artists. It’s a relaxed atmosphere of coming and going, mixing and mingling over art, while enjoying complimentary hors’ dourves and drinks. Just quietly peruse the exhibitions or take the opportunity to talk to the exhibiting artists about their work. Enjoy live music, book signings, watch a demonstration or listen to an artist lecture. Check the listings of the Upcoming First Friday for more information on these special events.
Don’t feel like you just have to look. All the art work is for sale, and buying from the galleries supports the arts and the artists. If nothing quite suits your needs, then making a connection with an artist opens up the possibility of commissioning work for your home or office.
Sculpture Walk, Kiosks and Murals
While you are walking and driving the streets of Bemidji you can enjoy even more art work. The murals on the buildings are permanent additions to our vibrant community and were commissioned form local artists. The Sculpture Walk has brought artists work from all over the country and the work is on display around Bemidji for one year. The Kiosk art works are revitalized street corner spaces in which local artists show work for a period of three months. A Map to find all of these works is available at the Tourist Information Center, the BCAC and other locations. For more information contact Suzi Ross at artwalk@paulbunyan.net
