December First Friday at a Glance

  • Bemidji Community Art Center – Invites you to our Holiday Open House presenting work by local and regional artists.  Give the gift of Art this Holiday season.  Join us on Friday Dec 2 from Noon to 5pm and Sat Dec 3 from 10am to 2pm for holiday refreshments, free gift wrap and more.  In the Galleries now thru Dec 21st – 9th Annual It’s Only Clay – National Juried Ceramics Competition and Exhibit.  This year’s exhibit will include work by our 2011 IOC Juror, Guillermo Cuellar. 
  • Bad Cat Creations Gallery & Gifts – Bad Cat Creations will be hosting a Farewell Open House for the Dec 2nd First Friday Art Walk from 4 to 6 pm. 
  • The Beltrami County History Center – with Gallery North, presents “Fall Reflections,” a collection of works by various artists celebrating the autumn season now through the end of December. 
  • Brigids Cross Irish Pub and Restaurant – is pleased to present Gabriel Nordby as their featured artist for the month of December - join us on the 2nd for a “Meet & Greet” with Gabriel from 5 to 6 PM. 
  • Cabin Coffeehouse and Café – presents Bemidji outdoor photographer, Todd Geiger as their December Artist.   Join us during the “Meet the Artist Reception” on Friday  Dec. 2nd, 4 – 6pm. 
  • NEW VENUE!!! The Center of Therapeutic Arts is pleased to present artist Malisa R. Van Maasdam and her exhibit  “A-Z”.  Join us on Dec 2nd from 4:30 to 6pm for Malisa’s First Friday opening reception.  The Center of Therapeutic Arts will also be celebrating it’s Grand Opening on Friday from 3:00 to 7:00pm. 
  • Dunn Bros Coffee presents photographer Tom Dunn as their featured artist during the December First Friday Art Walk.  Join us on Friday Dec 2nd for an artist reception from 5pm to 7pm to meet Tom and learn more about his work.  
  • Gallery North –invites you to their annual CHRISTMAS BOUTIQUE and the First Friday Open House on Dec. 2 from 2-5 pm.  This month’s Featured Member Artists are painter Marion Reil and mixed media artist Terry Honstead along with book signings with author, Holly Szurpicki.  Members of the Whipstaff Ranch – Rescue of Solway will also be joining us and have animals on the stage area at the gallery that are ready for adoption. 
  • Glazed & Amused presents Norma Frisk & Sue Smith as their December Featured Artists.  Glazed & Amused is open: Tuesday – Friday 12:00 – 7:00 and Saturday 10:00 – 7:00  Mondays by Appt only. Closed on Sundays.
  • Headwaters School of Music and Arts- presents guest artist Alice Blessing for the month of Dec. with her exhibit ‘Miss Shapen’.   Join us for an artist reception on Friday Dec 2nd from 4 pm to 6 pm. After the Opening  – Headwaters School of Music and the Arts presents a CD release event for Caleigh (Kay-lee) for their latest work, “When I See Winter Return”.  Event starts at 7:30 , tickets are $10 at the door. 
    Neilson Place – The Neilson Place Art Committee is pleased to present artist Melissa Moss of Blueleaf Photographs and her exhibit “Serenity”.  Join us on Dec 2nd from 3:00 to 4:30 as a part of the First Friday Art Walk to meet the artist and enjoy refreshments.
  • Saarens Productions invites you to stop by the Wild Rose Theatre and Fleur de Lis Gallery featuring New Work by local and regional artists in the exhibit rotation beginning Friday, December 2, 2011 as part of First Friday Art Walk from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.  Special Guest at the December 2 First Friday event will be nationally acclaimed author and biographer, Coyne Steven Sanders.  He will be signing the book he co-authored with Tom Gilbert, DESILU: The Story of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz.  Mr. Sanders will be at the gallery from 5:00pm to 8:00pm and there will be a Q & A from 6:00pm to 7:00pm.    .   • Wild Hare Bistro and Coffeehouse presents photographer Cal Rice as their featured artist for the December First Friday Art Walk.  Shooting professionally since 1980, Cal will be showing prints of the flora and fauna of Costa Rica December 2nd through January 4th.  Join us for the opening reception Friday, December 2nd from 3:00 to 5:00pm.
