March Exhibit -Flora and Fauna

The 2011 March Exhibit at the BCAC featureswork by Natalia Himmirska, Assistant Professor of Visual Arts at Bemidji State University.

“Flora and Fauna” is the latest statement in Natalia’s lifelong dialog with paint.  The imagery ranges from realistic to abstract and the variety speaks of the forces of artistic nature and the evolution that occurs when the concept meets the paint.   The media nourishes the concept, yet the concept must adapt.

In support of Natalia’s exhibit, she included work created by her pupils.  This portion of the exhibit reflects her influence as an instructor.  Teaching the integration of techniques, the idea of art, the essence of art and the creative attitude, allows the students to find their artistic voice and connect their art to what is happening around them.

The activity is funded in whole or in part by a Region 2 Arts Council Grant through an appropriation by the Minnesota State Legislature Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund passed by Minnesota voters on November 4th, 2008.
