Join us for the Spoken Word Event as a part of the October First Friday Art Walk. The second in our 2009 Series, the BCAC is pleased to present local writer and poet Marsh Muirhead and “The Long and the Short of It – It’s all about the Words. . The reception is Oct. 2nd from 5pm to 7pm. Marsh will be reading from his collection of short stories, poems, including haiku, fiction, non-fiction and essays starting at 6pm.
Although Marsh Muirhead is a dentist, flight instructor and commercial pilot, and (now retired) bodybuilder, he has written for much longer than he has done any of these things. His commentaries were a feature on KCRB for many years, and he has written reviews and travel pieces for The Pioneer.
His non-fiction writing (and photography) on a variety of topics has appeared in AOPA Pilot, Stock Car Racing, Northwest Dentistry, and in other major magazines.
Marsh’s fiction and poetry have been published in Carolina Quarterly, North Dakota Quarterly, New Mexico Poetry Review, The Southeast Review, Modern Haiku, and elsewhere.
He won the poetry prize at the Robert Frost Festival in Key West earlier this year, and another award from The Robinson Jeffers Tor House Museum in Carmel, California. He will be the featured poet in Modern Haiku early next year. He is the author of a guidebook, Key West Explained—a guide for the traveler.
