Join us in the Centennial Celebration of the Arts!
The Headwaters School of Music and the Arts and the Bemidji Community Art Center are looking for people of all ages to participate in a hands-on residency with the “In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre” (HOBT). The culmination of this residency will be a 2-day Pageant Presentation at the 42nd Annual Art in the Park festival on July 18th and 19th, 2009.
HOBT is looking for:
Children and adults with theatrical interests.
Musicians of all ages.
Volunteer crewmembers
Help build the puppets for the pageant presentation! Beginning July 8th we will the Headwaters School of Music and the Arts into a giant studio where staff artists of HOBT and volunteers (you) will create the pageantry!!
How it Works: ♦An artist will introduce you to the pageant theme by showing you the giant storyboard (a visual script). ♦You select a section of the pageant to work on, find the artist in charge of that section, and set to work. ♦Artists will guide you. ♦You’ll need 3 or 4 sessions to complete a project, but you can come to as many or as few as your schedule allows.
To All Interested Participants:
• Workshops are Free
• Donations graciously accepted, always welcome, and much needed.
• Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.
• Wear “painting” clothes.
• Bring recycled items (if you can): small plastic tubs with lids, brown paper bags, newspapers, fabric, sheets, latex paint, bamboo, scissors.
• No reservations required. Just come to the Headwaters School of Music and the Arts! (Check the Headwaters School or BCAC website or phone for dates and hours.)
