Bemidji – First City of Art Studio Cruise 2009

Calling all artists with studios within a 40 mile radius of Bemidji, Minnesota.  Applications are now being taken for the Bemidji – First City of Arts Studio Cruise 2009.

The ‘Cruise’ is an opportunity for artists to invite the public into their studios and showcase their art and craft.  This interaction serves to strengthen the public’s awareness of the creative process while providing the artist an opportunity to learn first hand the public’s perception of their work as well as the potential for direct sales and commissions.

  • Studio Cruise Dates are October 16, 17 & 18, 2009. 
  • Deadline for all applications is postmark by April 1, 2009.  
  • Fees include $10 non-refundable jury fee and $100 participation fee.

Interested artists are encouraged to apply by completing the application available here and an ST-19.  Information is also available on the ‘Cruise’ weblog at http://firstcityartcruise.wordpress.com/

February Exhibit Kicks off 2009 at BCAC

The BCAC started 2009 with the opening of the annual members show on Feb. 6th with an First Friday Art Walk Reception from 5 to 7pm.   The work is varied and shows the breadth and depth of our members talent.   Annually members are asked to submit up to three pieces of original artwork that either they created or have collected with wonderful results.

This year is no exception.  Works include, jewelry, wood turned and hand carved pieces, paintings in watercolor, acrylic, oil and mixed media, sculpture, photograhy and fiber.   The exhibit runs now through Feb. 28th.  For more information on becoming a member of the BCAC contact us at the Art Center or go to our Membership page on this website for details.

Also re-opening in Feb. is Shop 426, a Fine Art and Craft Gallery shop located in the BCAC.  Shop 426 is a unique gallery shop providing hand made art and craft available for purchase.  All proceeds benefit BCAC programming and the artists of Shop 426.  Support the arts and Shop 426!
