July – August 2008 Exhibit

Obvious Child of Poverty by Deb Brewer Carlson

Canoeing on Prom Night by Susan Waughtel

The BCAC featured their July and August exhibit “re•collection” with a July 3rd Opening from 5 to 7pm.  Featured at the reception were Minnesota artists, Susan Waughtal of Rochester, Deb Brewer Carlson from Williams and Michael Lemon of Cass Lake.  All graduates of Bemidji High School in 1976, their work is as varied and interesting as the artists.   Waughtel’s work features bold colors and quick brush strokes in acrylic on large canvases.  Her work reflects memories of Bemidji, home, family and friends.  Brewer Carlson works in the classical painting style with oils and also works in pastels.  Her work “has a timeless feel” with her subjects being a reflection of her “rural surroundings, nature and family as inspiration…”

Untitled by Michael Lemon

Lemon works in a variety of medium including watercolor, pencil and acrylic. Images reflect stories of a personal nature and are representative of his heritage, family and personal journey.  While his pencil drawings reflect the style of realism, much of his other work is either abstract in style or stylized in presentation.

“re • collection” continues to run now through August 30th, 2008.  Join us for our August First Friday Art Walk reception from 5 to 7pm, August 1st, 2008.
