It’s Only Clay deadlines

The BCAC and BSU Visual Arts Dept announce upcoming deadlines for the It’s Only Clay Juried Ceramics Exhibit and Workshop with potter Jeff Oestreich. 

Entries for the Juried Ceramics Exhibit must be postmarked by Aug 29th, 2007 to be considered.  Exhibit of works will take place at the BCAC Oct 5th to the 27th. 

The registration deadline for the two day workshop at BSU is Sept 7th, 2007.  Workshop dates are Sept 20 -21, preceded by a lecture by Oestreich on Sept. 19th, 2007.

August Exhibit

Friday August 3rd, the BCAC hosted the “218 Collective” and their installation from 5-8 pm at the Art Center.  Guests of the show were treated to complimentary birch bark crowns and a multimedia exhibition including small scale sculpture, karaoke, nail salon, audible kinetic sculpture, cabinet of curiousities and a series of video shorts created and directed by several members of the group.

Attendees through the month of August can still participate and enjoy much of the installation.  The collective includes the artists Genevieve Belleveau, Alex Ward, Caleb Belleveau, Jesse Russell and Dorian Kvale.  The exhibition is up until the 31st of August, 2007.

  • BCAC Featuring work by the “218” Collective. The 218 Collective is an energetic group of young artists dedicated to the creation of interactive, evocative, multi-media work.
  • Gallery North Art Center Marion Reil and Grace Garland exhibiting new works in “Feather Painting”. Featured Gallery artist, Pat Shough – Sillimandi, will demonstrate painting . Also featured on the Minnesota Forest Stage “Judy Nelson and Friends” and ”The Starving Musicians”.
  • Kitchigami Library Patricia Parks will be exhibiting at Kitchigami Public Library Art Wall during the month of August with a demonstration on creating fantasy creatures.
  • Dunn Bros Coffee Featuring artist and photographer Nancy Ehlen. Nancy’s nature photography subjects are mainly scenic landscapes, flowers and wildlife.
  • Wild Hare Bistro and Coffee House Presents the photography of Irv Srom. Irv is a nature photographer with an emphasis on birds, close-up and in their own environment.
  • Beltrami County History Center The Beltrami County Historical Society, in conjunction with Gallery North, invite you to their opening art show featuring art with showcasing early transportation.
