• BCAC will host their 7th Annual Bemidji Area High School Invitational
• Gallery North’s Guest Showcase Exhibit features art made by the Bemidji State University Day Care children, artist demos and live music on the The Minnesota Forest Stage.
• Wild Hare Bistro and Coffeehouse for their new exhibit “Guardians and Gables”, Collage and Mixed-Media Assemblages by Terry Garrett.
• Great River Gallery will feature an eclectic exhibit/show including three-dimensional collage, painting, stone carving and more.
• Dunn Bros Coffee presents “Anticipating Spring” by artist and photographer Patricia Grimes.

Nominations for the 19th Annual Friends of the Arts Award

Starting back in 1989 with our first honoree Helen Gill, the very first Friends of the Arts Award was presented, and since then has continued a long standing tradition of acknowledging those in our community who have been committed to the arts. Helens picture along with those award winners who followed her can be seen on display in the Bemidji Public Library meeting room.

For the 19th year the Bemidji Community Art Center is asking people in the Bemidji Community and surrounding area to nominate this year’s Friend of the Arts. The nominee for theFriend of the Arts award should be a living person (or couple) who has given generously of time and effort to promote the arts in the greater Bemidji area. Nominations must be received at the Bemidji Community Art Center (BCAC) at 426 Bemidji Ave, Bemidji, MN 56601, no later than April 18th, 2007. The public will be informed of the selection committee’s choice by May 1st and an event to honor the new Friend of the Arts recipient will be held on Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007 from 5-7pm at the Headwaters School of Music and Art.

Tickets for this year’s Gala event will go on sale at the Bemidji Community Art Center starting May 1st. If you know someone who should be honored by the Bemidji Community Art Center and the community of Bemidji please nominate them today.

Art in the Park volunteers needed!

We need volunteers to sign up now for Art in the Park, Friday July 20th through Sunday July 22nd. Please come for as long as you can.We need help in these areas:

• Vendors: Check in for vendors, assisting vendors in set up. Friday all day and Saturday am.
• Helping hands: give vendors a short break. Saturday through Sunday.
• BCAC information Booth. Saturday through Sunday.
• Music Tent Saturday through Sunday.
